Oman Engages in Strategic Discussions at 11th GCC Social Affairs Ministers Meeting

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, through its Ministry of Social Development, took part in the 11th meeting of the GCC Ministers of Social Affairs and Development Committee, focusing on pivotal social strategies for 2025. The event, held in Kuwait, saw the Omani delegation led by Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting’s agenda centered on adopting the GCC Drug Control Strategy for 2025-2028 and reviewing the action plan for the Committee of Ministers of Social Affairs and Development for the years 2026-2030. Discussions also covered the general framework for joint charitable and humanitarian actions within GCC countries from 2025 to 2030.

The meeting further included a review of benefits for persons with disabilities, an analysis of the quality of life index, and initiatives to enhance digital inclusion for the elderly in the GCC region.

Simultaneously, Oman also participated in the Gulf Family Forum, organized under the same theme. This forum aims to bolster the stability of Gulf families amidst contemporary changes, shield children and youth from digital challenges, and facilitate the exchange of best practices in family care. Additionally, the forum focuses on empowering women and supporting their roles in family and society building, while preserving Gulf identity and strengthening values of belonging and loyalty.
