Oman Engages in GCC Social Development Discussions in Kuwait

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Social Development, took part in the 11th meeting of the Committee of GCC Ministers of Social Affairs and Development for 2025. The meeting was held in Kuwait and focused on several key topics pertinent to regional social development.

According to Oman News Agency, the Omani delegation was led by Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najar, the Minister of Social Development. The meeting included discussions on adopting the GCC Drug Control Strategy for 2025-2028, reviewing the committee’s work plan for 2026-2030, and formulating a general framework for a joint GCC charitable and humanitarian action plan from 2025 to 2030.

In addition, the participants reviewed benefits for people with disabilities, examined a quality of life index, and explored ways to enhance digital inclusion for the elderly across the member states. These discussions are integral to advancing social development agendas within the GCC.

Simultaneously, Oman participated in the GCC Family Forum, which seeks to bolster family stability amidst contemporary changes. The forum also addresses protecting children and youth from digital challenges and risks, while promoting the exchange of best practices in family care.
