Muscat: Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, today received Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to discuss enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two nations.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting focused on developing commercial and investment relations between Oman and Azerbaijan. Discussions covered cooperation opportunities in sectors such as air freight, agriculture, energy, mining, and fertilizers. Both sides also explored the potential for establishing joint investments.
The ministers emphasized the importance of leveraging existing agreements between the two countries and organizing meetings and forums to connect business entities. Additionally, they discussed forming an Omani-Azerbaijani Business Council and a joint working committee for economic and investment cooperation. They also considered agreements for investment protection and the avoidance of double taxation.
Both parties underscored the necessity of ongoing communication between relevant authorities and the organization of periodic meetings and events. These efforts aim to enhance integration between Oman’s Vision 2040 and Azerbaijan’s Economic Development Goals 2030.
