Prime Minister Najib Mikati issued the foll9owing statement on Sunday:

“We condemn the burning of a copy of the Holy Qur’an, and we consider this act a flagrant and shameless violation of the monotheistic religions and what Islam represents in terms of sublime values and moderation.”

“Such hateful behavior will not achieve its goal of insulting the true Islamic religion and its essence,” the statement added.
