Labour Ministry Unveils 1,000 Opportunities for Educational Qualification Diploma

Muscat: The Ministry of Labour, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and accredited universities, has announced the availability of 1,000 opportunities to obtain an “Educational Qualification Diploma.” This initiative aims to prepare candidates to later compete for the post of a teacher at the Ministry of Education.

According to Oman News Agency, the Ministry of Labour clarified that applicants must meet specific conditions: they must be Omani nationals (male), hold a bachelor’s degree from a higher education institution inside or outside Oman, and have obtained this degree through full-time study. A graduation GPA of at least 2.3 out of 4.0 or its equivalent in other grading systems is required. For degrees obtained outside Oman, the bachelor’s certificate must be accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, with a minimum of 60 credit hours for humanities and individual skills majors or 45 credit hours for applied disciplines.

The conditions also specify that applicants must pass a specialized subject test, be medically fit for the teaching profession, be registered as job seekers in the Ministry of Labour’s system, and not have previously received government-funded training.

The ministry confirmed that the program will be fully funded by the government, providing trainees with a monthly allowance of RO 120 for nine months under a training contract. The program spans one academic year (two semesters) and includes practical training in Omani schools. The diploma requires full-time study with no fewer than 30 credit hours or their equivalent.

Upon completion, trainees will undergo examinations to qualify for teaching positions at the Ministry of Education.
