Nizwa: Students who represent the Sultanate of Oman in the 'Arab Parliament for The Child' today held a discussion panel titled "Cybersecurity and Child-Friendly Content", in the Wilayat of Nizwa, A'Dakhiliyah Governorate. The workshop focused on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) applications and electronic pathways into daily life and the importance of raising public awareness about the safe usage of modern technologies, especially among children.
According to Oman News Agency, the workshop addressed the challenges and risks children encounter when using digital programmes and platforms, emphasizing the need for cybersecurity awareness to protect digital privacy and promote safe digital conduct. Specialists, including a representative from the Royal Oman Police (ROP), participated in discussion panels to review cybersecurity's role in safeguarding digital privacy and to discuss mechanisms for handling the rapid advancement of technology.
The workshop concluded with recommendations to intensify awareness programmes targeting children and parents and to strengthen partnerships between educational, media institutions, and relevant authorities. It also highlighted developing mechanisms for reporting digital risks posed to children.
