Transport Ministry Expands Sultan Turki Bin Said Road by 7 Kilometres

Muscat: Acting in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology today opened a new section of the Sultan Turki bin Said Road, between the Wilayat of Al Kamil W'al Wafi and the Wilayat of Sur in the South A'Sharqiyah Governorate. The new section of the road runs between Maslaq area and Seeh Al Matar area close to the Royal Army of Oman's camp, passing through Sur Gate. It serves travellers from the Wilayat of Al Kamil W'al Wafi. The Sultan Turki bin Said Road figures among major projects undertaken by the Ministry. Besides enhancing the road network that connects the wilayats of the South A'Sharqiyah Governorate, the carriageway assumes significances for promoting economic and tourist activities in the governorate.

According to Oman News Agency, the extension of the road by 7 kilometres is expected to significantly improve the connectivity within the region. This development is part of a broader initiative to bolster infrastructure and support economic growth through improved transportation links. The upgraded road is anticipated to facilitate smoother travel for both residents and tourists, thereby encouraging more tourist visits and boosting local businesses.
