Muscat: Wilayat of Taqah Oman Hereditary Blood Disorders Association today organized a public awareness forum on hereditary blood diseases. The forum was held in the Wilayat of Taqah, Governorate of Dhofar, in cooperation with the Office of the Wali of Taqah.
According to Oman News Agency, the forum aimed to raise community awareness about common hereditary blood diseases, notably sickle cells anaemia and thalassemia. It laid emphasis on early screening and premarital screening as key preventive measures that help diminish the spread of such disorders and mitigate their health and social impacts.
The forum included working papers that addressed the medical, preventive, legal, psychological and social aspects related to hereditary blood diseases. It also reviewed the Association's roles, projects, and efforts in serving patients and promoting community awareness.
