The Speaker of the Arab Parliament strongly condemns the Swedish authorities’ giving permission to an extremist to burn a copy of the Holy Qur’an

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Assoumi, strongly denounced the fact that the Swedish authorities gave permission to an extremist to burn a copy of the Noble Qur’an, for the second time.

In a statement, Al-Assoumi called on the Arab countries to “severe diplomatic relations with Sweden, boycott its products and not travel to it, as well as promoting a global economic boycott campaign led by the Arab and Islamic peoples in order to put pressure on them to stop such violations and not to underestimate the feelings and sanctities of Muslims.”

In this context, he praised "the position of the Iraqi government to initiate the severing of diplomatic and economic relations with it," stressing the steadfast position of the Arab Parliament calling for "the importance of spreading the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence between religions, respect for symbols and sanctities, and rejecting hatred and extremism."
