Baghdad - The Ministry of Planning confirmed today, Wednesday, its intention to conduct the general population census in November of next year.
A statement from the ministry stated, “The Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, chaired a meeting that included the Administrative Undersecretary of the Ministry supervising the census, the head of the Central Bureau of Statistics, head of the census operations room, the executive general director of the census, and the United Nations Population Fund advisor for census affairs, to discuss the terms of the memorandum of understanding to be concluded with the United Nations Population Fund, and to review the progress made in the census operations schedule, and the mechanisms for cooperation with ministries and governorates in implementing the census.”
Tamim stressed, “The government is determined to conduct the census in November of next year by providing financial allocations, within the tripartite budget law, and securing all requirements related to completing the infrastructure and following up on the stages of work,” stressing “the necessity of adhering to the operational schedule and timetables for the implementation stages to avoid any delay, and to address any problem that arises.”
