The Minister of Electricity Directs To Form An Investigation Committee Regarding The Fire At Al-Bakr Secondary Transforming Station

The Minister of Electricity, Engineer Ziyad Ali Fadel, instructed to form an urgent investigative committee to investigate and explain the causes of the fire that occurred at Al-Bakr secondary substation, which led to the separation of the transmission lines of the southern region from the central one, and caused the complete shutdown of the grid.

He also directed to form another investigative committee to investigate the sabotage targets that affected the power transmission lines and towers ( Salah al-Din Thermal Station- Haditha) with a voltage of 400 k in Qanater area in Salah al-Din.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Electricity announced that the electricity grid was completely extinguished due to an accident and a fire at Al-Bakr transmission station in Basra Governorate.

The ministry said in a statement: "The electrical system was exposed today, Saturday, at (12:40 pm) to a complete shutdown, due to a fire accident at Al-Bakr secondary station in Basra Governorate."

It added: "The accident led to the separation of transmission lines, such as the connections of the southern region to the central region, and thus the rise of the system frequencies and the separation of the generating units at the production stations."

It continued: "Work is underway quickly from the National Control Center and coordination with the control centers in the governorates to restore separate obstetric units and transmission lines, respectively, and the system will return to normal during the coming hours."
