Real madrid: Real Madrid have announced the signing of Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva following his departure from Manchester City at the end of his contract.
According to Oman News Agency, Silva joined City from Monaco in 2017 and made 460 appearances for the club over nine years at the Etihad, winning six English Premier League (EPL) titles, three FA Cups, five League Cups, and the UEFA Champions League. The English club confirmed in April that the 31-year-old would leave.
Real Madrid said in a statement: 'The club has reached an agreement with Bernardo Silva for his incorporation into the squad on a two-season contract, until 30 June 2028.' Silva has earned 109 caps for Portugal and won the Nations League twice.
The midfielder is known for his tactical versatility, technical quality, and consistency, having been a key figure under Pep Guardiola at City. He is expected to bring significant experience to Real Madrid's midfield.
The signing is part of Real Madrid's push to strengthen after a disappointing 2025-2026 campaign, in which they lost the Spanish La Liga title and were eliminated in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The club also signed Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea earlier this week.
