Program Begins on Basic Pillars of Public Policy

Muscat: The tenth edition of the "Basic Pillars Guiding State Public Policy" program, titled "Economic Diplomacy," commenced today at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry. The program features the participation of several officials and specialists from various government entities and will continue until the 25th of this month. The opening of the program was held under the auspices of Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs.

According to Oman News Agency, the program is organized by the Ministry of Labour in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry, represented by the Diplomatic Academy. It is part of national efforts to enhance awareness of the state's strategic directions, consolidate an understanding of national priorities, and empower national cadres to contribute to achieving the targets of Oman Vision 2040.

Choosing "Economic Diplomacy" as the theme for this edition reflects the growing prominence of economic dimensions in international relations. Economic diplomacy plays a pivotal role in supporting sustainable development and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy by attracting investments, building partnerships, and opening new horizons for cooperation. It also involves transferring modern knowledge and technologies to support growth and economic diversification.

In his speech during the opening, Sheikh Humaid Ali Al Maani, Head of the Diplomatic Academy at the Foreign Ministry, emphasized that the program represents an important national framework for understanding the foundations of the state's public policies. It embodies the strategic vision guiding political, economic, social, and developmental sectors.

He explained that the program aims to consolidate principles that guide decision-making, such as balancing economic development and social stability, reinforcing justice and equality, and consolidating the rule of law. These principles contribute to building a prosperous society capable of adapting to regional and international changes.

He pointed out that these pillars stem from a vision that places humans at the core of development, aiming to strengthen national unity and promote tolerance, coexistence, and cultural diversity. This ensures the preservation of national identity and enhances a sense of belonging and shared responsibility.

He added that the program's importance extends beyond internal aspects, enhancing cooperation with regional and international partners. It supports national interests and elevates Oman's international standing.

The Head of the Diplomatic Academy clarified that the state's public policy pillars include reinforcing the rule of law, achieving sustainable development, and consolidating national unity with values of tolerance and coexistence. They also involve expanding international cooperation to serve development goals and enhance Oman's presence in international forums.

He emphasized that achieving these goals requires concerted efforts from various state institutions, working with a spirit of partnership and adhering to high standards of efficiency and transparency. The success of public policies depends on anticipating changes and responding with flexibility and competence.

Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Al Najjar, Director General of Training at the Ministry of Labour, affirmed that economic diplomacy is a fundamental pillar for enhancing national competitiveness and achieving sustainable development. It is a strategic pathway supporting economic growth, diversifying income sources, and strengthening international partnerships.

He explained that economic diplomacy connects politics and economics, investing international relations to serve developmental goals. It opens new markets and opportunities, enhancing the investment environment's attractiveness, which positively reflects on the national economy.

He added that building partnerships extends beyond attracting investments, including the transfer of expertise, knowledge, and modern technologies, developing national capacities, and raising economic sectors' efficiency. This supports sustainable development and enhances national competitiveness.

He pointed out that rapid global economic transformations necessitate integrating efforts between public and private entities. The program aims to empower participants to understand government directions and national priorities, translating public policies into initiatives and projects impacting various sectors.
