North waziristan: The Pakistani military has announced that 22 militants were killed during a security operation in the country's northwest.

According to Oman News Agency, forces carried out the intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan district, part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and also seized a quantity of weapons, the military said in a statement.

Pakistani forces have been conducting operations for years against militant groups active in the border and mountainous regions of the northwest, which periodically attack security forces and civilians.
