The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its solidarity with the United Nations and its operating agencies, on the twentieth anniversary of the bombing of the headquarters of the United Nations Mission in Baghdad in 2003, during which twenty-two of its employees were killed.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, said in a statement: "This incident brings us back again to the importance of standing up to strengthen our humanitarian responses, whatever the circumstances. Terrorism targets all of us, and it is our responsibility for solidarity towards confronting it and continuing our joint work to undermine the influence of its ideology everywhere."
He added: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highly appreciates these sacrifices and calls for more joint action on World Humanitarian Day."
