Oman Secures Multiple Medals at Geneva International Invention Exhibition

Geneva: The Sultanate of Oman secured one gold and two silver medals at the conclusion of its participation in the 50th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions 2025, which saw global representation from over 45 countries and more than 1,200 inventors and innovators.

According to Oman News Agency, innovator Mu’ayid Samir Al Balushi claimed the gold medal for his invention ‘Etienne – SOS Rescue Device,” a maritime safety device that sends distress signals to fishermen via satellite and radio waves. Meanwhile, Mahmood Mohammed Al Hinai was awarded a silver medal for his ‘Air Conditioner Sterilization and Cleaning System,” while Layyan Said Al Rahbi also received a silver medal for her invention ‘Lugha” (Language), designed to assist the deaf and mute in communicating with society.

Ibrahim Ahmed Al Balushi, Head of Oman’s delegation at the exhibition, emphasized that this marked the country’s first participation under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. He highlighted the ministry’s commitment to supporting individual innovations and providing real opportunities for Omani inventors to compete on international platforms, showcase their projects to investors and entrepreneurs, and connect with global innovators.
