Oman Engages in GCC Anti-Corruption Ministerial Conference

Muscat:The Sultanate of Oman, through its State Financial and Administrative Audit Authority, participated in the 12th meeting of the Anti-Corruption Ministerial Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held in Bahrain.

According to Oman News Agency, the Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Ghosun Hilal Al Alawi, Chairman of the State Financial and Administrative Audit Authority. During the meeting, Al Alawi emphasized the crucial role of organizations dedicated to promoting integrity and combating corruption in enhancing public trust in government institutions. He stressed the necessity of upholding integrity values and implementing preventive measures against corruption.

Al Alawi also expressed his gratitude to Bahrain and the GCC General Secretariat for hosting the event and ensuring excellent arrangements. The meeting covered several significant topics, such as the guiding work mechanism for the Experts Committee on Combating Corruption in GCC countries, recommendations from the 2026 annual event, and selecting a theme for the 2027 annual event.

Additionally, discussions were held about choosing a theme for the GCC Countries Research and Studies Competition related to integrity protection and anti-corruption efforts. The recommendations from the Gulf workshop titled 'Combating Corruption and Identifying the Beneficial Owner in the GCC Countries' were also reviewed.

The participation of the State Financial and Administrative Audit Authority in this meeting underscores its ongoing dedication to fostering joint cooperation among GCC audit institutions. This collaboration aims to enhance the principles of integrity and transparency, as well as protect public funds.
