Muscat: Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, met with Harsha Amarasekera, Chairman of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. The meeting focused on opportunities for economic and investment cooperation in special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities.
According to Oman News Agency, both sides explored partnership prospects across several sectors, particularly in commercial and real estate development, aiming to support economic growth and enhance investment flows between Oman and Sri Lanka. The discussions included reviewing successful experiences in the development and management of special economic zones and exchanging views on best practices to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of these zones.
The meeting also addressed strengthening the business environment and attracting high-quality investments. Opportunities to benefit from the expertise of small and medium enterprises in Sri Lanka were discussed, alongside the transfer and exchange of successful practices and expertise to support innovation and enhance the contribution of this sector to economic development.
Both parties emphasized the importance of continued joint cooperation and the exchange of expertise and knowledge, which serves mutual interests and contributes to sustainable economic development.
