Muscat: The Environment Authority and Japan Ministry of Environment today signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) on environmental matters. The agreement aims to foster collaboration for sustainable development and to promote the implementation of environmental multilateral agreements, including the Paris Agreement.
According to Oman News Agency, the MoC is designed to establish a framework for cooperation between Oman and Japan, founded on principles of equality, reciprocity, and mutual benefits. This strategic partnership underscores the commitment of both nations to address global environmental challenges collaboratively.
The memorandum was officially signed by Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, and Matsuzawa Yutaka, Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs in Japan. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Kiyoshi Serizawa, the Ambassador of Japan to the Sultanate of Oman, highlighting the significance of this bilateral engagement.
This agreement marks a significant step in enhancing environmental cooperation between Oman and Japan, aligning with global efforts to tackle environmental issues through collaborative actions and mutual support.
