Muscat: The National Defence College (NDC) has launched its annual symposium focused on strategic issues, under the theme ‘Digital sovereignty and its impact on national security’. This 4-day event commenced at the NDC premises under the patronage of Maj. Gen Musallam bin Mohammed Jaaboub, Commander of the Sultan’s Special Force (SSF).
According to Oman News Agency, the symposium, which runs until 20 February 2025, is an integral part of the NDC’s 12th course. It includes participation from representatives of various government departments and covers a wide range of topics such as infrastructure, technological independence, international cooperation, policies, and legislation.
The event aims to delve into the strategic aspects of protecting digital infrastructure, the importance of safeguarding national data, and the development of technology products and services. It also addresses the State’s capacity to manage national content and information flow, as well as the creation of supportive policies and laws for digital sovereignty, strategic planning, and the formulation of national initiatives.
The opening session saw the attendance of senior commanders from military and security services, members of the State Council, undersecretaries, officers from the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and military and security services, along with other invitees and participants in the 12th NDC course.
