Muscat: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the Algerian capital, Algiers, between OTEC Company, represented by Future Cities Company "Tadom", the Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company "Nama Water Services", and the Water and Sanitation Company of Algiers "SEAAL", to cooperate in executing a pilot project for an Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) for water meters using LoRaWAN technology.

According to Oman News Agency, this agreement was part of a three-day official visit by a delegation from the Sultanate of Oman to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. The delegation was led by Dr. Ali Amir Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology. The visit focused on enhancing cooperation in technology and digital solutions, with the goal of utilizing smart systems to improve the efficiency of metering operations and the management of water resources.

The pilot project is set to cover 100 accounts as the first phase within a specific geographical area. The project involves the supply and installation of ultrasonic water meters, conducting wireless planning for the communications network, and the installation of terminal stations and connectivity components. These will then be linked to the local cloud system, demonstrating both parties' commitment to exchanging expertise and supporting technological innovation.
