Muscat: The dollar clung to its one-month peak today, as prospects for a rate hike at the Federal Reserve's upcoming meeting remained on the table, even as sliding oil prices tempered some inflation concerns. The dollar index, which measures the US currency against a basket that includes the yen and the euro, edged up 0.03 percent to 101.55, while the euro dipped 0.01 percent to USD 1.1366. Against the yen, the dollar rose 0.05 percent to 163.82, while sterling eased 0.02 percent to USD 1.3284.
According to Oman News Agency, the Federal Reserve is set to convene a two-day monetary policy meeting concluding tomorrow, Wednesday. Among other major currencies, the Australian dollar slipped 0.11 percent against the greenback to USD 0.6981, while the New Zealand dollar lost 0.12 percent to USD 0.5766. In the cryptocurrency space, Bitcoin fell 1.88 percent to USD 63,694.59, while Ether declined 2.83 percent to USD 1,890.30.
