Marrakech - A ministerial coordination meeting on HM King Mohammed VI's international initiative to enable Atlantic Ocean access for Sahel countries is scheduled for Saturday in Marrakech, with Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Chad participating. This Royal Initiative was unveiled in the Royal Address to the Nation during the 48th anniversary of the Green March. In that speech, the Sovereign stressed that "the problems and difficulties facing African sister countries in the Sahel region will not be solved by security and military measures alone, but rather by an approach based on cooperation and shared development." To facilitate Atlantic Ocean access for Sahel nations, HM the King had proposed "launching an international initiative." The Sovereign had emphasized that successful implementation requires upgrading the infrastructure of Sahel nations and connecting them to regional transport and communication networks. In this context, the Royal Initiative aims to enable landlocked Sahel countries to utilize the Kingdom's road and port infrastructure. HM the King explicitly stated that "Morocco is willing to put its road, port and rail infrastructure at the disposal of these sister countries," in support of this initiative. Foreign Ministers from Sahel countries will join the coordination meeting in Marrakech, organized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita. On both regional and international fronts, the Royal initiative aligns with Morocco's consistent efforts, guided by HM the King, toward a prosperous Africa. It presents unprecedented opportunities to tailor solutions, fostering regional integration, economic transformation in these partner countries, and an improved quality of life for the Sahel-Saharan population. This approach, rooted in innovation and integration, aims to promote stability and security in the region. It said that the adoption of the UAE-backed resolution is a step in the right direction to stop the Israeli aggression, war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, starvation, and deprivation of the means of life that the Israeli killing machine practices daily against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The ministry praised the tireless efforts of brotherly and friendly countries in order for the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities to protect Palestinian civilians, stop the aggression, ensure the entry of all aid to our people and reject their forced displacement. The Foreign Ministry thanked Egypt and the UAE, the countries that sponsored the decision, and everyone who contributed to this modest achievement, which did not live up to the level of aspirations, challenges, and responsibilities, however, it considered it a step that may contribute to alleviating the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip, and to adding pressure on those countries that deliberately obstructed or postponed the adoption of the ceasefire, as it was in its initial form. The Ministry stressed the necessity of accelerating the implementation of this decision, and for the Secretary-General to submit his reports on the implementation of the decision and other decisions, and to form the mechanism adopted by the decision. The Foreign Ministry also affirmed the need for the Security Council to implement its decisions regarding addressing the roots of this barbaric Israeli aggression, as well as the need to end the Israeli occupation, realize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and achieve the two-state solution as stipulated in the Security Council resolution.
