Liwa: The local qualifiers for the global "VEX IQ" robotics competition, which qualify for the nationwide competitions in the Sultanate of Oman, commenced today at Liwa Centre for Science and Innovation in the North Al Batinah Governorate. Twelve teams from six governorates are participating in the event, which is organized by the Ministry of Education.
According to Oman News Agency, the competition aims to encourage students in innovation and engineering thinking, enhance programming and teamwork skills, open opportunities for qualification to international championships, and support practical science and technology education inside and outside the classroom. It also contributes to developing student skills in innovation and programming through employing applied learning based on challenges and teamwork. This reflects the Ministry of Education's commitment to supporting talented students, enabling them to undergo qualitative competitive experiences that hone their abilities and qualify them for participation in local and international competitions. This aligns with national approaches in promoting a culture of innovation and building a generation capable of keeping pace with future requirements.
Dr. Khaled Mohammed Al Saadi, Head of Innovation and Science Olympiad Department at the North Al Batinah Education, stated that the local "VEX IQ" qualifiers involve teams from the governorates of North Al Batinah, Muscat, South Al Batinah, A'Dakhiliyah, Al Buraimi, and A'Dhahirah. The qualifiers witnessed the participation of 12 student teams, totaling 48 male and female students.
