Japan’s Nikkei Records Three-Week Low Amidst Technology Sell-Off

Japan: Japan's Nikkei index recorded its biggest decline in three weeks at Wednesday's close, following sharp selling in technology company shares on Wall Street overnight.

According to Oman News Agency, the Nikkei index fell 3.16 percent to close at 65,326.42 points, marking its largest drop since July 27. The broader Topix index also fell 3.09 percent, closing at 4,012.31 points. Shares of Furukawa Electric saw the most significant loss, dropping 13.69 percent, while Kioxia Holdings fell by 12.60 percent. Pan Pacific International, operator of the Don Quijote chain of stores, experienced a decline of 11.08 percent, and SoftBank Group, a major player in artificial intelligence investments, decreased by 6.47 percent.

Meanwhile, online retail company Mercari recorded the most substantial gain on the Nikkei index, rising 6.19 percent. It was followed by Shift, which increased by 3.43 percent, and M3, which gained 2.18 percent.
