Japanese Stock Market Continues Downward Trend

Tokyo:Japanese shares fell more than 1 percent today, marking a second consecutive session of losses. The decline comes as investors held back from buying following recent gains and growing concerns over the outlook for US interest rates, rising bond yields, and geopolitical tensions.

According to Oman News Agency, the Nikkei index decreased by 1.42 percent to close at 69,042.11 points, while the broader Topix index fell 1.51 percent to 4,091.46 points. This downturn was reflected in significant declines in specific stocks, including chipmaker Rohm, which dropped 5.19 percent, SoftBank Group, which fell 4.28 percent, and Tokyo Electron, which lost 2.48 percent.

The largest percentage declines on the Nikkei index were seen in the shares of Sumco, a supplier of silicon wafers for semiconductors, which plummeted 5.73 percent. This was followed by construction equipment manufacturer Komatsu, whose shares decreased by 5.52 percent, and agricultural machinery and equipment manufacturer Kubota, which saw a 5.42 percent drop.
