Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has enacted three significant Royal decrees, marking important developments in Oman’s international relations.
According to Oman News Agency, the first decree, Royal Decree No. (70/2025), ratifies an agreement with Iran focused on legal and judicial cooperation in civil and criminal matters. This includes provisions for extradition and the transfer of sentenced individuals. The agreement was officially signed on May 27, 2025, in Muscat, and aims to strengthen legal and judicial collaboration between the two nations.
The second decree, Royal Decree No. (71/2025), pertains to the ratification of a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with Iran, also signed in Muscat on May 27, 2025. This agreement is expected to enhance bilateral trade relations by providing preferential terms, thereby boosting economic ties between Oman and Iran.
The third decree, Royal Decree No. (72/2025), involves an agreement with the Philippines on a mutual visa waiver for holders of diplomatic, special, service, and official passports. This agreement was signed on July 14, 2025, in Manila. The visa waiver is anticipated to facilitate diplomatic and official engagements between Oman and the Philippines.
All three decrees are set to be published in the Official Gazette and will be enforced from their date of issue, reflecting Oman’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and economic partnerships.
