Muscat, Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, today held a meeting with a delegation from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)’s Network of Virtual Universities (NVU) .
Headed by Dr. Karim Al Najafi, Secretary General of the OIC’s Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), discussed ways to enhance cooperation with OIC member states on a number of topics.
The meeting explored various aspects of cooperation in the fields of higher education, research, innovation and technology transfer. It also looked into ways of benefiting from the NVU’s support to establish smart universities in Oman (virtual universities based on technical knowledge and artificial intelligence).
The meeting also considered the recognition of university degrees from virtual universities supported by the NVU, forging communication among knowledge-based companies from various Islamic countries through the NVU and establishing international and private projects between the ministry and the NVU.
COMSTECH’s Network on Virtual Universities is an independent, non-political organization with an international approach. It was established under the auspices of the OIC’s Permanent Committee for Scientific Cooperation and Technology. It seeks to achieve justice in the field of knowledge, consolidate education research and empower students, professors, universities and outstanding entities in the Islamic world.
