Green Hydrogen Summit Oman to Catalyze Clean Energy Growth in December 2025

Muscat: The fourth edition of the Green Hydrogen Summit Oman (GHSO 2025) is set to take place from December 1-3, 2025, under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. In strategic partnership with Hydrogen Oman (Hydrom) and organized by Birba Energy Services, the summit is a key event for the clean energy sector in the region. It will gather participants from government bodies, the private sector, and international renewable energy organizations.

According to Oman News Agency, details of the summit were unveiled at a press conference in Muscat, featuring key figures like Dr. Firas Ali Al Abdwani, Director General of Renewable Energy and Hydrogen at the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, and Eng. Abdulaziz Al Shidhani, Managing Director of Hydrom. They underscored the summit’s role in promoting national efforts to develop the green hydrogen sector through international collaboration, investment attraction, and fostering a sustainable ecosystem for the industry.

Dr. Firas Ali Al Abdwani highlighted that hosting the summit signifies Oman’s strong commitment to carbon neutrality and the significant role of green hydrogen in this vision. He emphasized Oman’s strategic advantages, including over 50,000 square kilometers allocated for hydrogen development and comprehensive infrastructure, which position the country as a global leader. The summit aims to transform challenges into opportunities through strategic partnerships, driving the localization of hydrogen-related industries and unlocking economic potential.

Al Abdwani also noted that Oman is advancing with a roadmap to build an integrated green hydrogen economy, focusing on global and domestic energy security, economic diversification, carbon emission reduction, sector competitiveness, and innovation. Eight green hydrogen projects have already been awarded in Duqm and Dhofar.

Eng. Abdulaziz Al Shidhani remarked that the summit is crucial for supporting sector growth and fostering international energy dialogue. Hydrom’s strategic partnership underscores its long-term commitment to making the summit a knowledge hub and integral to national objectives. He emphasized the summit’s role in enhancing readiness, expanding global partnerships, and creating a conducive environment for investment and innovation, aligning with Oman’s vision to lead in green hydrogen development.

The summit is anticipated to draw over 3,000 participants worldwide, including decision-makers, developers, investors, and research institutions, highlighting the global interest in hydrogen and reinforcing Oman’s status as a regional clean energy hub.

This year’s theme, ‘Hydrogen Management: Closing Gaps, Accelerating Action,’ reflects Oman’s transition from planning to implementation, focusing on overcoming regulatory barriers, unlocking financing, addressing offtake challenges, and enhancing infrastructure readiness through practical solutions and partnerships.

The summit will address topics such as local manufacturing, strategic component localization, local content development, capacity building, and increasing in-country value, aiming to build a robust hydrogen economy with long-term benefits for Oman.

GHSO 2025 enjoys widespread support from governmental and sectoral institutions, reaffirming Oman’s commitment to development goals and its leadership in the global clean energy arena.
