Paris: The French government today presented a revised proposal to ban social media use for those under the age of 15, after the previous proposal was struck down by France's highest constitutional authority. French President Emmanuel Macron said the government today notified the European Commission of the new draft law, following the completion of the necessary technical work required to prepare it. The French President explained that notifying the European Commission marks an important step to ensure the draft law's compatibility with European Union law. According to Oman News Agency, the new proposal comes after the previous ban was rejected by the French Constitutional Council, as the government seeks to reintroduce the legislation in a form consistent with European legal requirements.
