Muscat: Fifteen second-class public prosecutors, known as the “Development Batch,” took the oath of office at the Supreme Judicial Council today. The ceremony was presided over by Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council, and attended by Attorney General Nasr bin Khamis Al Sawa’ee.
According to Oman News Agency, the oath of office is conducted in compliance with Article (11) of the Public Prosecution Law issued under Royal Decree No. (99/92). This legal provision grants the prosecutors official permission to commence judicial duties and integrate into the Public Prosecution Corps.
The process to become a second-class public prosecutor involves a comprehensive educational requirement. Article (10) of the Public Prosecution Law mandates two years of study at the Higher Judicial Institute to successfully obtain a Postgraduate Diploma in Judicial Sciences.
