A new study led by scientists at the University of California and Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego warns that the effects of climate change could lead to a 9% decline in ecosystem benefits to humanity by 2100. The research suggests that climate change-induced alterations to vegetation, rainfall patterns, and higher carbon dioxide levels could result in an average of 1.3% reduction in gross domestic product (GDP) across all countries that are analyzed. The study emphasizes that the world's poorest 50% of countries and regions are expected to bear 90% of the GDP damages, highlighting the potential economic damages that may be caused by climate change.
