Muscat: At the behest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the State Council today inaugurated the proceedings of the 3rd Ordinary Session of the 8th Term, in accordance with the provisions of Articles (38 and 41) of the Council of Oman Law. Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, emphasized the need for determination in intensifying parliamentary work, focusing on building upon the achievements of the previous two years of the First and Second Sessions. He highlighted the importance of efforts to achieve goals that will significantly contribute to the development and growth of the renewed renaissance.
According to Oman News Agency, the Chairman noted that the legislative agenda is packed with important draft laws that need to be completed in collaboration with the Shura Council to ensure the legislative framework of the Council of Oman system is comprehensive. He expressed appreciation for the members and the General Secretariat for their national efforts in ensuring the success of the Council’s work and achieving its mission.
He pointed out that the agenda for the first session includes discussing a study presented by the Technology and Innovation Committee on “Data Management and Governance and its Impact on the Digital Economy”. The study aims to enhance the legislative and regulatory framework for national registries, learn from leading global experiences in data governance, establish a comprehensive framework for data management and security, and propose supportive legislation for secure and efficient electronic processes.
