Muscat: The Ministry of Health is organizing a 4-day workshop on medical response to hazardous material incidents. The workshop, which kicked off in Muscat today, reviews the latest developments in the fields of detection and removal of hazardous materials. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Al Mandhari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Regulation.
According to Oman News Agency, the workshop explores lessons learned from real-life incidents as guidelines to promote shared understanding, exchange experiences, and develop the skills of paramedics in tackling incidents that involve chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear materials. It also looks into the best practices in rapid response and safe handling of complex incidents.
Organized in cooperation with the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority and the European Commission, the workshop included a visual presentation on national resilience in addressing threats and dealing with hazardous materials in the Sultanate of Oman.
