Muscat:Al Jabal Al Akhdar: The Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar in the A'Dakhiliyah Governorate is preparing to host the fourth edition of the Himam Trail Run Race 2026 this Friday. The event will see the participation of over 1,000 runners, both male and female, from 34 different nationalities, competing from within Oman and abroad.
According to Oman News Agency, the event is part of a broader initiative to promote sporting activities that capitalize on the natural and tourism resources of the A'Dakhiliyah Governorate. It aims to bolster Al Jabal Al Akhdar‚¬„¢s reputation as a hub for sports tourism and adventure, offering unique sporting experiences that highlight the region‚¬„¢s varied landscapes, elevations, and local villages.
Participants will compete in races spread across five mountain trails of different lengths and age categories. The longest trail is 50 kilometers, beginning at "Hayl Al Diyar" and offering a challenging elevation gain of over 2,100 meters, with a 15-hour time limit that concludes at the Dusit D2 Resort Al Jabal Al Akhdar.
The 30-kilometer and 20-kilometer races will commence from Wadi Bani Habib Park, featuring elevation gains of more than 1,280 meters and 560 meters, respectively. Meanwhile, the 10-kilometer race will start at Sayq Village, and the 4-kilometer trail will begin at Hayl Al Yaman, specifically for participants aged 10 to 14.
This year, a new "Fun Race" category has been introduced, offering 1-kilometer and 2-kilometer distances, with both races starting and finishing within the grounds of the Dusit D2 Resort Al Jabal Al Akhdar.
