Nama Water Services Advances Water Infrastructure Projects in Al Buraimi

Al Buraimi:Nama Water Services is actively advancing a series of projects to enhance the infrastructure and rehabilitate water and wastewater networks in the Al Buraimi Governorate, with an estimated total expenditure of approximately RO 4.7 million.

According to Oman News Agency, Eng. Abdullah Rashid Al Shamsi, Operations Manager in Al Buraimi Governorate, outlined that these investments are allocated towards rehabilitation, expansion of new extensions, and the development of treatment and transmission systems to ensure sustainable and reliable water supplies.

The operational plan encompasses 10 projects with a budget of RO 1.5 million, targeting several areas in the wilayats of Al Buraimi and Mahdha. This includes the upgrade of transmission lines connected to main reservoirs. Notably, the Al Khadra water network rehabilitation project (Zone 3) is 95% complete and aims to replace 3,000 connections, similar to ongoing works in Hamasa and Old Sarooj.

The project package includes maintenance and installation of critical transmission lines, such as the Al-Muallaqah line (7 km), the Al-Masaydrah line (6.9 km), and the Al-Khatwah line (3.9 km). Approximately 9,000 connections have been replaced during comprehensive rehabilitation within the governorate.

For network expansion, Al Shamsi mentioned that new extension projects, valued at over RO 6,000, are underway to cover modern layouts in Al-Awhah, Al-Ghadir, and Al-Ghuraifah. These projects involve connecting networks to supply sources with total lengths of up to 79 kilometers, providing around 700 new connections.

In the wastewater sector, a budget of approximately RO 2.5 million has been designated for future projects. These include establishing a treatment plant and collection network in the Al-Juwaif and Al-Khatwah areas of Wilayat Mahdha, costing RO 1.5 million, and maintaining the wastewater transmission line to the treatment plant in Wilayat Al Buraimi with a budget of RO 1 million. Consultancy studies are in progress for a treatment plant project in Al-Rawdah, Wilayat Mahdha, and expanding the existing plant in Wilayat Al Buraimi.

Regarding water quality, Al Shamsi confirmed that field monitoring has collected 4,500 samples from 143 testing points across the governorate's wilayats this year. These samples underwent over 46,000 laboratory analyses for approved safety standards, achieving compliance indicators of 98.9 percent.
