Baquba - The security forces adopted a strategy to eliminate the smuggling of petroleum products into the Kurdistan region.

A security source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency that the law enforcement operation that was launched months ago in Diyala contributed significantly to addressing the file of fuel smuggling to the northern regions.

He added that adopting a strategy on the land roads between Diyala and the Kurdistan region, including closing the countryside roads on the administrative borders and setting up security inspection points, contributed to the decline of the smuggling file at a high rate, pointing out that addressing the smuggling file led to creating flexibility in providing fuel and cutting off attempts to smuggle petroleum products via Diyala roads to the Kurdistan region, which was causing harm to the economic process./End
