Sohar:The 4th Zakat Conference and Exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, commenced in Wilayat of Sohar, North Al Batinah Governorate. The event is hosted under the patronage of Nasser Khamis Al Jashmi, Chairman of the Tax Authority, and attended by Dr. Mohammed Said Al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, along with various officials and experts.

According to Oman News Agency, the three-day conference is themed "Zakat from Governance to Sustainability: Integration Establishing Impact and Fiduciary Duty Building Trust." It features over 600 participants from nine Gulf, Arab, and international countries, including members of Zakat committees, researchers, and specialists in related fields.

The first day included a main panel discussion on "Zakat and Sustainable Development: An Integrated Government Vision," exploring the role of various sectors in enhancing the developmental impact of Zakat. The Zakat Institutions Readiness Index was launched to support institutional development and measure the efficiency of Zakat institutions in Oman.

A cooperation document was signed between the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs and the SMEs Development Authority to support and empower SME projects for Zakat-eligible families, aiming for sustainable economic empowerment.

The conference's scientific program includes 11 sessions covering various themes, such as Sharia, legislative, economic, and technical aspects of Zakat. Topics include integration between Zakat and the financial sector, digital transformation, governance, and the role of Zakat in achieving sustainable development goals. The conference also features panel discussions, training workshops, and special sessions focusing on diverse aspects of Zakat work and its future.
