YouTube Unveils Smarter Ad System to Preserve Live Stream Engagement

Rabat: has announced a new update designed to enhance the live streaming experience by reducing advertisements during peak moments of interaction, aiming to preserve the dynamic atmosphere between viewers and content creators.

According to Oman News Agency, the Google-owned platform explained in an official blog post that it will automatically pause ads when it detects a significant surge in live chat activity, such as a spike in messages or increased audience support. The update is intended to help creators maintain uninterrupted broadcast momentum, particularly during pivotal moments that draw widespread public engagement.

Users who participate in support features such as Super Chat, Super Stickers, or digital gifts will also enjoy an ad-free experience for a short period immediately after their purchase, serving as an instant reward for their contribution. YouTube also revealed that it is expanding its gifting tools to additional countries, including Canada, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand, thereby enhancing live stream monetization opportunities globally.

Users can now send GIF images within horizontal broadcasts on smartphones, a feature previously limited to vertical broadcasts only. In another move reflecting the platform's focus on flexibility, creators can now stream simultaneously in both vertical and horizontal modes while unifying all viewers within a single chat.

These updates come as live streaming consumption on large screens experiences notable growth. The company indicated that more than 30 percent of live streaming viewing time in the United States during 2025 came via internet-connected televisions. The changes follow YouTube's recent price increase for premium subscriptions in the US, a move that underscores the platform's efforts to balance user experience improvements with revenue growth.
