Muscat: The 12th Workshop on Satellite Applications for the Middle East and North Africa regions concluded today at the headquarters of the Civil Aviation Authority. Hosted by the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Civil Aviation Authority's "Centre of Excellence for Satellite Applications," the five-day event brought together participants from across the region.
According to Oman News Agency, the workshop included 24 trainees representing 11 countries from the Middle East and North Africa, in addition to the Sultanate of Oman. The event adopted several key recommendations, notably the organization of specialized programs focused on specific satellite applications such as maritime applications, dust monitoring, and other fields. The workshop also emphasized diversifying training programs and supporting blended learning-both remote and in-person-to reach a wider segment of beneficiaries across various countries in the region.
The recommendations further included strengthening the Centre's regional and international presence through participation in specialized forums and conferences on satellite applications. The workshop also highlighted the importance of supporting innovation and employing artificial intelligence tools in data analysis and processing. Additionally, it recommended establishing a mechanism to monitor impact and document success stories to measure the effect of training on operational performance in the region.
