Ibra: Acting in cooperation with Zulfa Centre for Family Counselling, the Office of the Wali of Ibra today organized a symposium aimed at enhancing community awareness through the promotion of values of reconciliation and tolerance. The symposium was held under the auspices of Sheikh Khalid bin Hashel Al Muselhi, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs.
According to Oman News Agency, two working papers were presented at the symposium. The first paper focused on applying practical communication skills in resolving family conflicts. It elaborated on ways to establish sound family communication and avoid communication errors that exacerbate disputes. Emphasis was also laid on skills of effective listening and its role in containing conflicts.
The second working paper outlined the methods of amicable settlement of family disputes. It highlighted standard steps in successful family mediation and the role of the mediator in the rapprochement of viewpoints between conflicting parties.
The symposium was attended by local dignitaries, officials from public sector departments and representatives of private sector establishments, in addition to a group of community management members.
