Muscat:University Medical City: The University Medical City wrapped up its second annual Research Day, themed "From Evidence to Excellence," featuring participation from over 600 researchers, academics, and health professionals from various institutions in Oman. The event showcased 340 research papers, with 15 qualifying for oral presentations and 60 for scientific poster displays.

According to Oman News Agency, the Research Day covered a wide range of topics in the medical and health fields, including artificial intelligence, precision medicine, oncology, cardiovascular diseases, organ transplantation, infectious diseases, patient safety, clinical pharmacy, population health, health economics, health policies, medical education, quality of care, public health, and basic sciences.

The scientific program included a lecture by Professor Zobair Younossi on the role of artificial intelligence in medical research, chronic diseases, and health decision-making. This was complemented by 15 oral presentations and 60 scientific poster sessions.

Dr. Siham Salim Al Sinani, Executive President of the University Medical City, emphasized the significance of research being aligned with patient needs and health practices. She highlighted the importance of developing research that contributes to evidence-based decisions and solutions, and the growing research activity within the institution.

The event concluded with awards for the top oral research presentations, scientific posters, Best Emerging Researcher, and Best Poster in various research fields. Researchers with notable output from 2023 to 2025 were also honored, along with supporting entities.

The University Medical City has seen an increase in research activity, with 353 scientific publications in 2025, a 14% rise from 2024, and 203 publications in the first half of 2026. The past three years have also seen the launch of 46 new clinical trials, reflecting the institution's commitment to enhancing healthcare quality through research.
