A presidential statement stated: “The President met today, at the Baghdad Palace, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Iraq, Khalid bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti, and at the beginning of the meeting, on the occasion of the end of the Ambassador’s work in Baghdad, the President entrusted the Qatari Ambassador with his greetings to Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his wishes for the people of Qatar, with further development and prosperity, stressing the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries and expanding horizons of joint cooperation.
The President of the Republic praised the efforts of Ambassador Khaled bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti during his tenure in Iraq to develop relations between the two countries, wishing him success in his future duties.
The President indicated that Iraq is part of the region and its security and stability are part of the security and stability of the region as a whole, pointing out that the interests of our peoples require coordination on issues of common concern.
For his part, the Qatari Ambassador affirmed that cooperation between the two countries continues, and there are agreements that have been concluded and others that are under conclusion, expressing his hope that it will be a good beginning for broader and more comprehensive cooperation, noting that life is normal in Baghdad and there are many Qatari companies operating in Iraq.
Al-Sulaiti stressed the aspiration of the State of Qatar to strengthen relations with Iraq and support its security and stability.
