The National Intelligence Agency announced the arrest of a dangerous terrorist network in Baghdad.

The Agency said in a statement, “Based on the directives of the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Iraqi National Intelligence Agency achieved a new victory to be added to the record of Iraqis’ victories over the forces of terrorism and ISIS excommunication. The heroes of the Agency carried out one of the most successful qualitative intelligence operations that overthrew a dangerous terrorist network in the capital, Baghdad.”

The statement added: “This operation is linked to a previous operation carried out by the Agency in conjunction with the Counter-Terrorism Service on February 26, 2023, which contributed to the killing of 22 terrorists in the Anbar desert in the west of the country, and led to the identification of new targets and revealed this network that was planning to carry out suicide operations targeting Husseini processions and police stations, checkpoints and public markets in a number of popular neighborhoods in Baghdad, and after careful field monitoring of their movements, all of their members were arrested, who confessed to belonging to the terrorist organization and receiving extensive training on the manufacture of explosive devices, belts, and explosive materials in preparation for carrying out their suicide operations. However, they were arrested in a qualitative pre-emptive operation.

It continued: “At a time when this operation reveals the power of the Iraqi intelligence effort and its infiltration of the ranks of these dark gangs, the Iraqi National Intelligence Agency confirms the continuation of its efforts to pursue their remnants until they are eliminated.”
