Muscat: The Tender Board today approved a major portfolio of government contracts and project proposals valued at more than RO 363 million during its fourth meeting of the year (2025). The meeting was chaired by Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Tender Board.
According to Oman News Agency, the extensive list of approved awards covers a wide range of sectors, with the single largest allocation designated for the procurement of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and sera for government units, amounting to RO 201,835,139.
Key infrastructure and development projects approved include the development of 18th November Road and Al Mouj Road with a budget of RO 44,940,000, and the procurement of consumable surgical materials for the Ministry of Health totaling RO 19,009,051. Additionally, the board approved the provision of nutrition services and associated works for Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) students, valued at RO 17,536,476.
Further notable projects encompass the development of the Khor Al Batah in South A’Sharqiyah Governorate worth RO 16,057,166, and the operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment at SQU for a period of two years, costing RO 8,841,806.
The duplication of Al Rub’Al Khali Road in A’Dhahirah Governorate and Al Ma’murah Road in Dhofar Governorate are also set to proceed, with budgets of RO 8,396,371 and RO 4,297,466, respectively. A fisheries survey and exploration project in the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Sea has been allocated RO 7,821,693.
Other projects include the design and implementation of the Hawiyat Najm Development Project (RO 5,759,459), road safety enhancements in Dhofar Governorate (RO 5,351,950), and the application of vocational and technical education in post-basic education (Grades 11 and 12) with a budget of RO 3,773,600.
The Tender Board also approved the establishment of the Sur Cultural Youth Center (RO 3,586,809), and maintenance services for radiology equipment at the Royal Hospital, among other projects. Additionally, the board allocated funds for various complementary and additional works on existing projects across the country.
