Spielberg: Spanish rider Marc M¡rquez claimed his first-ever victory at the Austrian Grand Prix for motorcycles, extending his lead in the overall standings to 142 points ahead of his brother, lex. The six-time world champion celebrated his triumph in the 1,000th race in the history of the MotoGP World Championship.
According to Oman News Agency, after winning Saturday’s sprint race from the second row, M¡rquez secured a double victory in both the sprint and the Grand Prix for the sixth consecutive time. The Spanish rider has remained undefeated since the British Grand Prix last May.
This marks the first time M¡rquez has won six consecutive Grand Prix races since 2014, moving him closer to a potential seventh world title with nine rounds remaining in the season. Fermn Aldeguer of Gresini Racing finished the race in second place.
Despite starting from pole position, Marco Bezzecchi settled for third, while lex M¡rquez finished tenth after receiving a penalty.
