Muscat: Acting in cooperation with the Anaesthesia Department and Obesity Treatment Unit at the National Diabetes Centre, a specialized medical team from the Royal Hospital has performed the first laparoscopic gastric sleeve operation without surgery.

According to Oman News Agency, the operation, medically known as “gastric folding or gastric plication,” is aimed at helping obese patients lose weight in a safe and effective manner. This innovative procedure marks a significant advancement in the Royal Hospital’s strategy to offer cutting-edge medical treatments while aligning with the latest developments in minimally invasive surgical interventions.
