Royal Decree Amends Social Protection Law Provisions

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued Royal Decree No. 60/2025 to amend certain provisions of Royal Decree No. 52/2023 related to the Social Protection Law. The decree outlines specific changes to the implementation timeline for various clauses within the existing legislation.

According to Oman News Agency, Article (1) of the new decree specifies that the provisions related to the insurance for work injuries and occupational diseases for non-Omani workers will be implemented five years from the decree’s issuance date. Additionally, Chapter Six of Part Three will come into effect three years post-issuance. Moreover, the implementation of Clause (1) of Article (139) is contingent upon the Social Protection Fund’s Board of Directors, who must set a date within four years from the decree’s issuance.

Further provisions include the cancellation of any legal text that contradicts the new decree, as per Article (2). Article (3) mandates that the decree be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from the day following its publication, ensuring a streamlined transition to the amended law.
