Royal Decree Amends Penal and Labour Laws in Oman

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik today issued Royal Decree No. (66/2026) on amending some laws, following its presentation before the Council of Oman.

According to Oman News Agency, Article (1) of the decree stipulates that the amendments attached to this decree shall be applied to the Penal Law, which was promulgated by Royal Decree No. (7/2018). This indicates a significant update to the legal framework governing penal actions in the country.

Furthermore, Article (2) annuls Article (146) of the Labour Law, which was promulgated by Royal Decree No. (53/2023). It also cancels any provisions that contradict the attached amendments or contravene their stipulations. This action marks a notable change in the regulations governing labor in Oman.

Article (3) specifies that the decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and will come into effect the day following its publication. This ensures the amendments are quickly integrated into the legal system, allowing for immediate application and compliance.
