Presidency warns against escalation of terrorist colonists’ crimes against Palestinians

RAMALLAH: Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh today cautioned against the escalation of the crimes committed by terrorist Israeli colonists against the Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank, with the protection of Israeli forces.

He stated that these assaults and crimes perpetrated by armed Israeli settler militias residing unlawfully on occupied land are the outcome of the ongoing genocidal aggression inflicted by Israel, the occupying power, against the Palestinian people along with its holy sites and properties, and held Israel fully responsible for them.

He added that the genocidal war on Gaza, the ongoing wave of killings and detention raids in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, colonists’ assaults and infringements upon the holy sites all require urgent intervention by the US administration to oblige the occupation authorities to halt their crimes, which violate all norms of international law, given the US political, military and financial support to Israel.

He reiterated the ne
ed for the international community to urgently intervene to implement the United Nations resolutions as well as the rulings of international courts, the most recent of which was the ICJ ruling, which found that Israel’s decades-long occupation of the Palestinian territories was “unlawful”.

While the positions of the UN, the US administration and European Union condemning the armed Israeli colonists’ attack on the town of Jit, east of Qalqilya, which resulted in the killing of at least a man overnight Thursday, are good, he stressed that such positions remain to be translated into action on the ground by obliging Israel to halt its aggression on Palestinians, bringing an end to all crimes committed by Israeli colonists and imposing more sanctions on them to rein in their terror.
